What is Shodan

Shodan is a search engine that lets the user find specific types of computers (webcams, routers, servers, etc.) connected to the internet using a variety of filters. Some have also described it as a search engine of service banners, which are metadata that the server sends back to the client.[1] This can be information about the server software, what options the service supports, a welcome message or anything else that the client can find out before interacting with the server.
Shodan collects data mostly on web servers (HTTP/HTTPS – port 80, 8080, 443, 8443), as well as FTP (port 21), SSH (port 22), Telnet (port 23), SNMP (port 161), IMAP (ports 143, or (encrypted) 993), SMTP (port 25), SIP (port 5060), and Real Time Streaming Protocol (RTSP, port 554). The latter can be used to access webcams and their video stream.
It was launched in 2009 by computer programmer John Matherly, who, in 2003, conceived the idea of searching devices linked to the Internet. The name Shodan is a reference to SHODAN, a character from the System Shock video game series.

How to use Shodan

so lads u dont need linux or anything fancy to use shodan its a website shodan.io so frist of all im going to need you to sign up to shodan before we can use it so u go a head and sign up

Now we signed up and signed in we are greeted with the home page

see the search bar type samsung galaxy s6 in to it

one result lol ok lets up the search type smart tv

as you can see there is a load of them

we can also look for companys ip and that with shodan lets look for google

as you see there is like 287,573 results lol

so we can filter were we wanna search for like lets as i wanna find the google servers in inda we can click in the side panel

we can search for anything like webcams

Final Thoughts

wel lads i love shodan back the days i was a black hat i use to use it to fine companys to exploit and webcams stuff like that im my experience if its online it is on shodan lol have a gud one lads and remember happy hacking 🙂
